  • Thank you from the John Gill PTA
As school year 2016-17 ends, the John Gill PTA wishes to thank our wonderful community. Together, we helped make this an amazing year for John Gill School. We hosted and supported many fun and educational activities. We worked hard to raise funds.

As a result of everyone's hard work and generous donations, all John Gill students will continue to have dance, art, and gardening classes for school year 2017-18.

Thank you to Community School of Music and Arts for their generous subsidy of our art program. And to the Sequoia Healthcare District for their generous grant for our gardening program.

We wish everyone a great summer! We'll see you back here in August.

  • Volunteer and Make a Difference: Become a Reading Tutor
Volunteers are needed to empower John Gill students to succeed in reading and in life. Reading Partners is a local literacy nonprofit working to help close the achievement gap by recruiting volunteers to work one-on-one with John Gill students who are reading below grade level.

The minimum commitment to volunteer is only 1 hour per week, and you can really make an impact in the life of a child.Tutoring slots are 8:45-9:45, 10:15-11 am, and 1:30-5:30 pm, Mondays-Wednesdays, and 12:30-5:30, Thursdays. No experience is needed.

If interested, please email asha.albuquerque@readingpartners.org, or call 650-223-4541

Also worth mentioning, Reading Partners was mentioned in a New York Times editorial on "social programs that work." https://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/01/opinion/social-programs-that-work.html
